Design

Whether you choose the sedan or the hatch, Yaris is a surprisingly roomy car. And now, thanks to a slightly longer wheelbase, a re-shaped exterior and clever interior design layout, the new Yaris hatch is even more spacious, with more legroom and more luggage space than ever before.

Even the dash has been re-designed making it wider while reducing its height to improve visibility. This creates more space and makes the instrument panel easier to see and read.

Automatically Cool

Yaris is equipped with a smart automatic air conditioning system (only on YRX and ZR grades) to keep things cool inside, no matter how hot it gets outside. (If the weather's chilly, it will keep things nice and warm, too.)

The manually adjusted system (only on YR and YRS grades) has a clever electronic feature that is designed to minimise the work the engine has to do in order to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions, and to maximise performance in extreme weather conditions.

New Yaris YRX and ZR hatches, have automatic climate control air-conditioning systems. Once you set the temperature, the system continually adjusts itself to maintain the interior temperature.

More Control At Your Fingertips

New Yaris hatches are fitted with a D-shaped steering wheel so you can manoeuver freely without your knees getting in the way. The moulding of the wheel provides a better grip sensation. And the angle of the whole steering column has been adjusted to help create a more natural driving position.

Audio controls are mounted on the steering wheel across the Yaris hatch range, to give you fingertip control of volume, radio channels, CD tracks, Bluetooth audio streaming and input from USB or MP3 devices. So you don't need to take your hands off the wheel to get the most from the awesome audio system.

Inner Space

For a small car, Yaris has always been remarkably spacious. In new hatches, the new interior design creates a roomier layout, with room for more luggage and plenty of storage space. 

There are loads of cleverly integrated storage compartments within the passenger cabin (up to 24, depending on model) to keep things like keys, maps, sunglasses, cards and so on. In new hatches, there's a secondary storage box in the glove box, cup holders front and rear, and bottle holders on both sides at the front. 

New hatches have a wider back door, which makes it easy to load large or awkward shaped packages and bags and provides more space in general. And the luggage compartment has a two-tier boot, which conceals a large, hidden storage area, can be adjusted, and even removed completely, to create more space. 

The back seats can be folded down completely, or in a 60/40 split, making it easy to throw all kinds of gear in the back and still have a passenger in the rear.

In new Yaris hatches the new interior design also includes sporty, body-hugging front seats which are specially designed to make driving more comfortable, reduce driver fatigue and help reduce the whiplash effect in the event of an accident.

Safety

We take car safety very seriously at Toyota and we set ourselves the very highest standards. As a result we have equipped Yaris with a wide range of advanced safety technologies and innovations.

Braking Control

All Yaris grades have Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i). This is a computerised system that reads electronic sensors in each wheel and then feeds back instructions to the brakes to make them work as efficiently as possible.

Stability Control

Yaris is equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) across the range. These two clever pieces of technology automatically control engine power and the brake force going to each individual wheel to make sure that Yaris always has the best possible grip on the road. They work to help prevent skidding and wheel-spin, helping to make sure you have control in all driving situations.

Passive Safety

Yaris is cleverly structured to protect everyone in the car in the event of an accident. The car's body incorporates special reinforcements and crumple zones which contribute to improved stability and safety in a collision.

SRS Airbags All Round

Every Yaris sedan comes equipped with 6 SRS airbags including: driver and passenger front airbags, front side airbags and full length curtain shield airbags. New Yaris hatches take it one step further with a knee airbag for the driver taking the total to 7 SRS airbags.

This helps to protect driver and passengers from the most common kinds of impact injury caused in front-on and sideways collisions. And this amount of protection is unusual if not unique, in a small car. But we believe in making our cars as safe to drive as possible.

Clever front seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters provide added protection in frontal accidents by instantly tightening to secure occupants. Force limiters gradually release to relieve the pressure on the upper body to reduce the risk of injuries to the chest.

Whiplash Injury Lessening seats

New Yaris hatches come with specially designed Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats. These are built on a new body hugging frame structure, which improves ride comfort and creates a sporty feel. They have also been cleverly shaped to give the driver the ideal driving position and reduce driver fatigue on long journeys.

New Audio System

Yaris is equipped with great audio systems throughout the range. As well as a powerful multi speaker audio system, there are inputs for USB memory sticks, iPods and MP3 players plus Bluetoothconnectivity for audio streaming, phone book access and hands-free mobile calls. New Yaris ZR and YRX hatches are now fitted with the awesome Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub - (T.E.C.H.).

Stay Connected With Bluetooth

All Yaris grades come with wireless Bluetooth connectivity. You simply pair your Bluetooth enabled compatible phone or device with the audio system - an easy process that takes just a few minutes - and you then have access to a whole range of Bluetooth enabled mobile phone features. 

USB Connectivity

SD Card

In new Yaris YRX & ZR hatches the Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.) system features an SD Card slot. You can use this to view digital photographs and digital documents on the 6.1 inch touchscreen display. You can also upload your pictures to personalise the system. So it won't be just a clever little Yaris, it'll be your clever little Yaris.

Fuel efficient engine

All Yaris grades are powered by fuel-efficient engines with 'Variable Valve Timing with intelligence' (VVT-i). As its name suggests, this clever technology automatically controls the valve timing of the engine so it works at its most efficient in all driving situations - slowing down, speeding up, ticking over, cruising on the highway or stop-starting around town. The result of this is better power generation, better fuel efficiency and fewer emissions. In fact all Yaris grades perform well above their weight, go a long, long way on a single tank.

Steering Wheel Controls

New Yaris hatches, now come with a D-shaped steering wheel. The wheel is specially moulded to give a better sensation of grip and this makes the operation of the steering wheel controls for audio, feel more natural.

The steering wheel controls enable the driver to flick through tracks, pump the volume up or down and switch to and from CD player, radio and other audio devices. And all without taking your hands off the wheel.

Keyless Entry

All Yaris grades come with remote central locking. So when it's pouring with rain or you have a load of shopping or luggage to unload, there's no need to fumble with your keys in the door when you park or load up. Just point and click, and off you go.

Sat Nav

The Toyota Entertainment Communications Hub (T.E.C.H.) system in new Yaris hatch (YRX and ZR grades), includes Sat Nav with 3D graphics. The 3D graphics show major buildings and local landmarks in excellent detail, giving drivers a really clear idea of what things actually look like and helping them to avoid disorientation when driving through unfamiliar surroundings. The 6.1 inch touchscreen displays information in an easy to follow split screen format, making it easy to plan lane changes on busy motorways and providing useful driving data such as length of journey and estimated arrival time. The split screen function also means you can control audio devices and hands-free mobile calls without moving away from Sat Nav screen.

Cruise Control

In the new Yaris hatch, Cruise Control is available as an option on the YR and is standard on the YRS, YRX and ZR models. Cruise Control technology is designed to help make driving on long journeys less tiring and less stressful.
